The Best Time to Drink Chia Seeds for Weight Loss

Ah, the million-dollar question: when is the best time to drink chia seeds for weight loss? While there’s no one-size-fits-all answer, I can provide some guidance based on personal experience and research.

Pre-Workout Snack:

  • If you’re gearing up for a workout, consuming chia seeds beforehand can provide you with a sustained energy boost. The combination of carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats in chia seeds can fuel your body and keep you going during those sweat sessions.

I remember one particularly grueling MMA practice where I had a Chia seed energy ball beforehand. It gave me the energy I needed to power through the intense workout without feeling sluggish or fatigued. (Which I really needed)

Before Meals:

  • One of the best times to drink chia seeds for weight loss is before meals. The high fiber content helps fill you up, reducing the chances of overeating. Try having a chia seed drink or a small portion of chia seed pudding around 30 minutes before your main meals to help control your appetite.

I always have a chia seed drink before lunch or dinner, and I’ve noticed that it helps me make better eating decisions and be more in tune with my body’s hunger.

Post-Workout Recovery:

  • After a strenuous workout, your body needs proper nourishment to recover and repair. Chia seeds can be an excellent option for post-workout recovery due to their protein content and health benefits like the ability to replenish glycogen stores in your muscles.

Whenever I finish a hard workout, I like to have a chia seed smoothie. Not only does it help me refuel, but it also satisfies my sweet tooth without me feeling guilty.

So when is the best time to drink chia water?

A girl thinking about how to use chia seeds.

I believe the best time to consume chia seeds is 30 minutes before a meal if you’re trying to incorporate them into your weight loss diet. But remember not to rush it when drinking chia seed water before each meal, because it’s crucial to soak chia seeds in water for 30 minutes before consuming. This lets them swell so it takes up more room in your stomach, so you are damn near full after just a small portion. If it’s possible drink chia seed water before every meal. This may be difficult because you would want to ingest soaked chia seeds and that takes time. Feel free to get creative and start adding chia seeds to different meals.
